However, based on what you wrote, I believe you should not be worried. There is a lot of aspects that can affect the final word count analysis (in any system) and most of them are associated with the settings selected for analysis, making it a bit difficult to answer you with certainty without knowing the details. Post title: Possibly the cause are cross file repetitions So my question is whether you could tell me what the „technical“ reason for this could be and what would you do if you were in my shoes. But I think that the Trados Studio 2015 analysis made on the source Excel files should be reliable. The client says their calculation is correct and would - OF COURSE - appreciate me accepting the job. I removed all items which are not supposed to be translated, analysed them in Trados Studio 2015 and got 34,600 words (6300 repetitions only, 9800 internal fuzzies, and 18,500 no matches). To check whether the analysis sent is correct, I downloaded XTM files as xliffs and analysed them using Trados Studio 2015 (no TM added), getting the total of some 35,000 words, of which 9,100 shows as repetitions.Īs it seemed strange to me, I asked the client to send the source files (Excel), which they did. The TM seems empty, concordance returns no results at all (not even for "the" :) The client's analysis contains some 34,500 words (some 24,000 internal repeats, some 3,200 internal fuzzy matches and some 7,300 no matches). I would like to ask you whether you have a similar experience with wordcount difference and/or whether you know the reason of the issue below.Ī client of mine (not assigning jobs frequently, maybe once or twice, a bit difficult communication sometimes but paying, probably can be considered to be a good client) wants to assign me a job using XTM. Topic: Wordcount difference XTM / XTM exported xliffs / source Excel files (in Trados Studio 2015) (or: perhaps there is a neat trick that will allow me to upload an entire job's files as a single zip file.?) What does this mean? Where does the problem lie? The new XLF file has the same name and is in the same location inside the TIPP file as the original. XTM is unable to validate this TIPP file. But when I try to upload it, XTM isn't happy.

So I unzipped it all, translated the XLF file, and then used 7-zip's excellent archive browser to replace the original XLF file with the translated one. The resources.zip file contains a subfolder named "bilingual", and inside it is an XLF file.

The TIPP file is a normal zip file with two files in it, namely a manifest.xml and a resources.zip file. I noticed that I can also download the entire job as a TIPP file, so I tried it out.

Since I do the translations offline in my CAT tool, this can be annoying because XTM doesn't allow one to upload all files at once (one has to upload each of the files one by one by one, and it's not fast). Xbench uses a lot of emphasis on your hdd in its final score.Every now and then I get an XTM job that consists of dozens of tiny files instead of just one file. I guess I should say geekbench weights its final score with little emphasis on the hdd. I also know that geekbench basically does not care what your hdd is and xbench uses a lot of hdd in its final scores.

I am thinking wired or wireless keyboard is not the problem.

I still suspect that a very full hdd may be your problem. Here is the test with my 2009 iMac it is slower then the 2010 macpro 330 vs 480.

I do have an imac with a wireless keyboard. User interface score may be the speed of your keyboard connection. Do you have a wireless keyboard and mouse? Actually I am curious as to a score that low.ĭo you have a lot of add on units via usb firewire two or thee lcd screens. You have a small hdd 320gb if it is filled beyond 240gb it may be the problem. if a clone copy gives you terrible scores then you can remove it. I agree, but hdd is the easiest to eliminate.
